MORPH-LER: Log-Euclidean Regularization for Population-Aware Image Registration
Spatial transformations that capture population-level morphological statistics are critical for medical image analysis. Commonly used smoothness regularizers for image registration fail to integrate population statistics, leading to anatomically inconsistent transformations. Inverse consistency regularizers promote geometric consistency but lack population morphometrics integration. Regularizers that constrain deformation to low-dimensional manifold methods address this. However, they prioritize reconstruction over interpretability and neglect diffeomorphic properties, such as group composition and inverse consistency. We introduce MORPH-LER, a Log-Euclidean regularization framework for population-aware unsupervised image registration. MORPH-LER learns population morphometrics from spatial transformations to guide and regularize registration networks, ensuring anatomically plausible deformations. It features a bottleneck autoencoder that computes the principal logarithm of deformation fields via iterative square-root predictions. In this work, we study the maximum scores that can be achieved in a team-based domino game. Specifically, we show that if the game ends because it is blocked, then the maximum score that can be obtained under this assumption is 107. -- En este trabajo estudiamos los puntajes máximos que se pueden obtener en una partida, por equipos, en el juego del dominó. Concretamente; nosotros mostramos que, si la partida termina porque el juego esta trancado, entonces el puntaje máximo que se puede obtener bajo este supuesto es de 107.
Materia cuántica en cavidades de alta reflectancia (Many-body CQED)
This article gives details of the course on "Quantum Matter in optical lattices and high-Q cavities" given at the School of Physics XXVIII at UNAM in 2021. The notes describe useful concepts for analog quantum simulation and details of models in optical lattices and high-Q cavities. The notes are in Spanish. En este artículo se discuten algunos detalles del curso sobre "Materia cuántica en redes ópticas y cavidades de alta reflectancia (Many-body CQED)" de la escuela de verano de Física XVIII (2021) en la UNAM. Se describen conceptos útiles para la simulación cuántica análoga, así como se introducen detalles de modelos de materia cuántica en redes ópticas y en cavidades de alta reflectancia.
Bonik Somiti: A Social-market Tool for Safe, Accountable, and Harmonious Informal E-Market Ecosystem in Bangladesh
People in informal e-markets often try to deal with fraud and financial harm by sharing posts, screenshots, and warnings in social media groups. However, buyers and sellers frequently face further problems because these reports are scattered, hard to verify, and rarely lead to resolution. We studied these issues through a survey with 124 participants and interviews with 36 buyers, sellers, and related stakeholders from Bangladesh and designed Bonik Somiti, a socio-technical system that supports structured reporting, admin-led mediation, and accountability in informal e-markets. Our evaluation with 32 participants revealed several challenges in managing fraud, resolving disputes, and building trust within existing informal practices and the assumptions behind them. Based on these findings, we further discuss how community-centered technologies can be designed to support safer and more accountable informal e-markets in the Global South.
Géométrie d'Arakelov des variétés toriques et fibrés en droites intégrables
En nous appuyant sur une construction due à Bedford et Taylor, et certains résultats récents de Demailly, nous présentons une extension (partielle) de la géométrie d'Arakelov aux fibrés en droites intégrables. (Ces derniers sont les fibrés en droites hermitiens sur une variété arithmétique $X$ pouvant se décomposer sous la forme $\ov{E} = \ov{E}_{1}\otimes (\ov{E}_{2})^{-1}$, où $\ov{E}_{1}$ et $\ov{E}_{2}$ sont des fibrés en droites munis à l'infini d'une métrique continue approchable uniformément sur $X(C)$ par des métriques positives $C^{\infty}$). Nous appliquons notre théorie aux fibrés en droites sur une variété torique munis à l'infini de leur métrique canonique. Nous en déduisons, entre autres choses, la démonstration d'un analogue arithmétique du théorème de Bernstein-Koushnirenko.
Caminos de Dyck contenidos en un diagrama de Ferrers
We consider the problem of counting subset of Dyck paths contained in a Ferrers diagram. This enumeration concerns to find the number of the elements in a branch of the Kréwéras tree. Using the Ferrers diagrams associated with Dyck paths, we have developed methods of comparison and decomposition diagrams to obtain enumerative formulas in terms of Catalan numbers. These methods have been developed in the form of algorithms and SAGE coded for verification. ----- Se considerara el problema de contar el subconjunto de caminos de Dyck contenido en un diagrama de Ferrers. Esta enumeración atañe al conteo de los elementos en una rama del árbol de Kréwéras. Mediante el uso de diagramas de Ferrers asociados a los caminos de Dyck, hemos desarrollado métodos de comparación y de descomposición de diagramas para obtener fórmulas enumerativas en términos de números de Catalan. Estos métodos han sido desarrollados en forma de algoritmos y codificados en SAGE para su verificación.

Aprendizaje de los números complejos usando diferentes sistemas de cálculo simbólico y un sistema de evaluación en línea en formación inicial de profesores
En este artículo se estudió el trabajo matemático personal de 15 profesores en formación inicial, en primer año de una universidad pública en Chile, a partir de dos tareas sobre números complejos. Estas tareas se plantearon en un CAA (Moodlle - Wiris) y se propuso resolverlas utilizando distintos CAS, como GeoGebra, Symbolab, Photomath y Wolfram Alpha entre otros. Se observaron dificultades y potencialidades en el trabajo matemático de los estudiantes. En las dificultades, se observó que los estudiantes tenían problemas para interpretar la información de los CAS y del feedback del CAA debido a que los conocimientos matemáticos previos no eran lo suficientemente solidos para hacerlo. En las potencialidades, se observó que distintas características de la tarea, junto con la articulación de dos o más artefactos permitió a los estudiantes darle significado a los objetos matemáticos involucrados. ATM: An Open-Source Tool for Asteroid Thermal Modeling
We publicly release ATM, a Python package designed to model asteroid flux measurements to estimate an asteroid's size, surface temperature distribution, and emissivity. The full multi-dimensional posterior pdf is found using Markov Chain Monte Carlo. Data files with $\sim$ 2.5 million WISE flux measurements for $\sim$ 150,000 asteroids and additional MPC data are also included with the package, as well as Python Jupyter Notebooks with examples of analysis. The entirety of the analysis presented here, including all the figures, tables, and catalogs, can be easily reproduced with these publicly released Notebooks. We show that ATM can match the best-fit size estimates for well-observed asteroids published in 2016 by the NEOWISE team (Mainzer et al. 2016) with a sub-percent bias and a scatter of only 6%. We estimate that the accuracy of WISE-based asteroid size estimates is approximately in the range of 15-20% for most objects. We also study optical data collected by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and show that correlations of optical colors and WISE-based best-fit model parameters indicate robustness of the latter.
