Higher-order ATM asymptotics for the CGMY model via the characteristic function
Using only the characteristic function, we derive short-time at-the-money (ATM) call-price asymptotics for the exponential CGMY model with activity parameter $Y\in(1,2)$. The Lipton--Lewis formula expresses the normalized ATM call price, denoted $c(t,0)$, in terms of the characteristic exponent, which, upon rescaling at the rate $t^{-1/Y}$ from the $Y$-stable domain of attraction, yields $c(t,0) = d_{1} t^{1/Y} + d_{2} t + o(t)$ as $t\downarrow 0$. The first-order coefficient $d_{1}$ is the known stable limit from the domain of attraction of a symmetric $Y$-stable law, and $d_{2}$ is given by an explicit integral involving the characteristic exponent and the limiting stable exponent. We then extract closed-form higher-order coefficients by keeping the full Lipton--Lewis integrand intact and introducing a dynamic cutoff that partitions the domain into inner, core, and tail regions, establishing the expansion with controlled remainder. All coefficients are verified numerically against existing closed-form expressions where available.
ABR Flow Control for Multipoint Connections
Multipoint capabilities are essential for ATM networks to efficiently support many applications, including IP multicasting and overlay applications. The current signaling and routing specifications for ATM define point-to-multipoint capabilities. Multipoint-to-point connection support is also being discussed by the signaling and PNNI groups, and will be defined in the near future for the unspecified bit rate (UBR) service. We examine point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-point flow control for the available bit rate (ABR) service, as discussed in the traffic management working group.
The ATM implied skew in the ADO-Heston model
In this paper similar to [P. Carr, A. Itkin, 2019] we construct another Markovian approximation of the rough Heston-like volatility model - the ADO-Heston model. The characteristic function (CF) of the model is derived under both risk-neutral and real measures which is an unsteady three-dimensional PDE with some coefficients being functions of the time $t$ and the Hurst exponent $H$. To replicate known behavior of the market implied skew we proceed with a wise choice of the market price of risk, and then find a closed form expression for the CF of the log-price and the ATM implied skew. Based on the provided example, we claim that the ADO-Heston model (which is a pure diffusion model but with a stochastic mean-reversion speed of the variance process, or a Markovian approximation of the rough Heston model) is able (approximately) to reproduce the known behavior of the vanilla implied skew at small $T$. We conclude that the behavior of our implied volatility skew curve ${\cal S}(T) \propto a(H) T^{b\cdot (H-1/2)}, \, b = const$, is not exactly same as in rough volatility models since $b \ne 1$, but seems to be close enough for all practical values of $T$. Thus, the proposed …
Use-it or Lose-it Policies for the Available Bit Rate (ABR) Service in ATM Networks
The Available Bit Rate (ABR) service has been developed to support 21st century data applications over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). The ABR service uses a closed-loop rate-based traffic management framework where the network divides left-over bandwidth among contending sources. The ATM Forum traffic management group also incorporated open-loop control capabilities to make the ABR service robust to temporary network failures and source inactivity. An important problem addressed was whether rate allocations of sources should be taken away if sources do not use them. The proposed solutions, popularly known as the Use-It-or-Lose-It (UILI) policies, have had significant impact on the ABR service capabilities. In this paper we discuss the design, development, and the final shape of these policies and their impact on the ABR service. We compare the various alternatives through a performance evaluation.
Impacto del desorden en los estados cuánticos de dos fotones generados en arreglos de guías de onda no lineales
In an array of nonlinear waveguides, quantum states can be generated from classical states through spontaneous parametric down-conversion of photons. This work simulates and analyzes the effect of disorder on light propagation and its quantum correlations, implementing disorder in three system parameters: coupling, injection amplitude, and injection phase. It is determined that when light is injected into only one waveguide, disorder in the coupling increases localization and reduces dispersion. Moreover, in this case, propagation tends to remain ballistic, a characteristic feature of waveguide arrays. Conversely, disorder in the injection amplitude and phase tends to delocalize the wave function, with the latter having a more pronounced effect. Finally, it is observed that quantum correlations, obtained from the correlation matrix, are robust in the presence of disorder, particularly the null elements. -- En un arreglo de guías de onda no lineales se pueden generar estados cuánticos a partir de estados clásicos mediante la conversión paramétrica descendente espontánea de fotones. Analysis and Simulation of Delay and Buffer Requirements of satellite-ATM Networks for TCP/IP Traffic
In this paper we present a model to study the end-to-end delay performance of a satellite-ATM netowrk. We describe a satellite-ATM network architecture. The architecture presents a trade-off between the on-board switching/processing features and the complexity of the satellite communication systems. The end-to-end delay of a connection passing through a satellite constellation consists of the transmission delay, the uplink and downlink ground terminal-satellite propagation delay, the inter-satellite link delays, the on-board switching, processing and buffering delays. In a broadband satellite network, the propagation and the buffering delays have the most impact on the overall delay. We present an analysis of the propagation and buffering delay components for GEO and LEO systems. We model LEO constellations as satellites evenly spaced in circular orbits around the earth. A simple routing algorithm for LEO systems calculates locally optimal paths for the end-to-end connection. This is used to calculate the end-to-end propagation delays for LEO networks. We present a simulation model to calculate the buffering delay for TCP/IP traffic over ATM ABR and UBR service categories. We …
Source Behavior for ATM ABR Traffic Management: An Explanation
The Available Bit Rate (ABR) service has been developed to support data applications over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks. The network continuously monitors its traffic and provides feedback to the source end systems. This paper explains the rules that the sources have to follow to achieve a fair and efficient allocation of network resources.
ATM: Action Temporality Modeling for Video Question Answering
Despite significant progress in video question answering (VideoQA), existing methods fall short of questions that require causal/temporal reasoning across frames. This can be attributed to imprecise motion representations. We introduce Action Temporality Modeling (ATM) for temporality reasoning via three-fold uniqueness: (1) rethinking the optical flow and realizing that optical flow is effective in capturing the long horizon temporality reasoning; (2) training the visual-text embedding by contrastive learning in an action-centric manner, leading to better action representations in both vision and text modalities; and (3) preventing the model from answering the question given the shuffled video in the fine-tuning stage, to avoid spurious correlation between appearance and motion and hence ensure faithful temporality reasoning. In the experiments, we show that ATM outperforms previous approaches in terms of the accuracy on multiple VideoQAs and exhibits better true temporality reasoning ability.
Sistema de Reconocimiento Facial Federado en Conjuntos Abiertos basado en OpenMax
Facial recognition powered by Artificial Intelligence has achieved high accuracy in specific scenarios and applications. Nevertheless, it faces significant challenges regarding privacy and identity management, particularly when unknown individuals appear in the operational context. This paper presents the design, implementation, and evaluation of a facial recognition system within a federated learning framework tailored to open-set scenarios. The proposed approach integrates the OpenMax algorithm into federated learning, leveraging the exchange of mean activation vectors and local distance measures to reliably distinguish between known and unknown subjects. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed solution, demonstrating its potential for enhancing privacy-aware and robust facial recognition in distributed environments.
Vote processes are the results of several complex interactions which are hard to separate in order to understand its role in the final result. The revocatory exercise performed in Mexico in 2022 allows an approximation to the Mexican dynamics of vote. Being a binary election (in principle) and the vote was mainly due to the political party in the government and the coercion of vote we have mainly only two dynamics of vote. In this work I report that the vote distribution for the NO at urn scale is similar to the one that appears in several elections for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI for his Spanish acronym) and it is compatible with a Gamma distribution. We discuss similarities and two possible models for such a behavior, one based on the Traveling Salesperson Problem and other on a Fokker-Planck equation.
